Margherita Pizza

Pizza Crust.  Pizza Sauce.  Fresh Mozarella.  Fresh Basil.  That’s all you need for this simple, yet amazing pizza.  And we’re going to make our own pizza sauce.   Why you ask?  Well, I have two reasons.  One – It just tastes better.  Two – I can never use a whole jar of sauce before it goes bad and I end up wasting half of it.  So, I started making my own and now I never waste any because I can make exactly what I need.  And it’s super simple to do.

To make the sauce, place one 14 oz can diced tomatoes in food processor along with 1-2 cloves of smashed garlic (skins removed, of course!).  Pulse until smooth.

Add 1 tbsp olive oil, 1-2 tbsp fresh parmesan cheese and 1/2 tbsp sugar.  Pulse a couple times until well combined.

Add salt to taste and let sit at room temperature for about an hour, if possible, to let the flavors really come together.

I purchased a premade pizza crust, but feel free to use your favorite pizza crust recipe for this as well.

Spread your yummalicious homemade pizza sauce on crust.

Slice fresh mozarella into rounds and arrange over sauce.

Roughly chop some fresh basil into strips and scatter over cheese.

Bake in 400 degree oven until cheese is melted and gooey…mmmm!
