Monogram Frame

30 06 2008

A friend of mine is expecting a baby girl soon, and today was her baby shower.  I decided to make her a monogram frame to put in the baby’s room…here’s how it turned out: (Ignore the glare on the glass!  I finished this about 1 minute before I needed to leave for the shower, so I was just trying to get a quick pic before I ran out the door…I didn’t even have time to wrap it!)

It was very easy to make…all you need is a picture frame (with the glass) and some scrapbook supplies!  I made this is about an hour!  I’m thinking about making these and selling them…what do you think?

My little rockstar!

30 06 2008

My daughter was invited to an “American Idol” birthday party and was asked to come dressed like a rock star.  Here she is with her face all “Painted up” with my makeup!  (BTW, this was her “don’t mess with me face!)

So, do you think she has some “Rockstar Attitude” or what?…

On a different note…I did a cake and cookies this weekend too.  An octopus cake (plus a smaller version for the 1 yr. old’s “smash cake”) and cookies.

Family Portrait

24 06 2008

Or should I say Family SELF portrait??  My MIL needed a family photo of us for something, and we hadn’t had one made since Cam was 2 years old…which was 3 years ago!  So, I set up the tripod and camera and this is what I got (Well, after several out-takes, this is what I got!  Ha ha!)

New logo design samples are ready!

12 06 2008

Here are a few more logo samples…please let me know if you’re interested!  :)   I’m having so much fun creating these!  Same ‘rules’ apply as below!

More logos on the way!

12 06 2008

I’m putting the finishing touches on a few more sample logos, so stay tuned!  I hope to have them finished and up by tomorrow morning (or even earlier!)

Have a great day!

Who needs a logo? :)

8 06 2008

I have recently started creating logos for myself,  and I have had a few people ask me about creating them a logo.  So, I am now “in the business” of creating logos!  If you’re interested, please leave a comment here on my blog and I’ll get with you about the details!  I am charging $25 for the initial logo, and $10 for any variations you might want to go with it (like a business card, a blog header, watermark, etc).

I’ll post some examples soon!

Today’s Wedding Cake + Cookies…and the cutest baseball fan EVER!

8 06 2008

Well, let me just start by saying…don’t EVER severely sprain your ankle 2 weeks before you have to make a 4 tier wedding cake + 50 cookies, and two occasion cakes (Not to mention going to baseball practices and games!).  I am exhausted and my foot is really feeling it right now.  I was up till at least midnight almost every night this week preparing for this cake…it had handmade sugarpast roses on it, each of which take at least an hour to make b/c I have to make each petal individually, let them dry for a bit, then assemble the rose.  Then, dust them with colored powders to give them a more realistic look.  And last night I was up until 2 am working on the cookies.  And had to finish them this morning!  So, here is the wedding cake…after all that work, it did turn out very nice, I think:  (Please forgive me for the photo quality…it was pretty dark in the room, and my foot was really killing me by the time I got this thing delivered, so I was in a hurry to get home!)

And here are the matching cookies that were given as her wedding favors to the guests:

So I came home from delivering that cake and got to work on two more cakes!  Yep…I said TWO more.  A friend called late on Thursday wanting to know if I could do a cake for her son who’s turning 18 on Sunday, and I couldn’t say no, so I had to work on that one.  Plus, I had told my son’s coach at the beginning of the season that I would make a cake for their little “banquet” they have at the end of the season.  Of course, I had no idea it would fall on the same week as this wedding, and of course, I had no idea I would sprain my ankle right before this weekend either.  -insert agrivated smilie here!  So, I made a baseball jersey cake for them…nothing spectacular…as a matter of fact, I’m almost ashamed to take it, b/c it’s NOT my caliber of a cake.    I mean, here’s the cake I did for the team last year that looked like their ball caps:

So, after that…you’ll laugh when I post the pic of this year’s cake.  Seriously.  You will.  I’ll get some shots of it tomorrow in the daylight and post it then.

Now, one more thing…the ABSOLUTE cutest baseball fan ever…my adorable little nephew came to watch my son’s ballgame last night, and just had to get a front row seat:

Isn’t he the cutest!

No more crutches! And a cool new photo bag/purse I made!

6 06 2008

Woohoo!!  I am finally walking without crutches.  It feels so good to be rid of those things.  Now, granted, I am walking as slow as a turtle, and I look like a penguin from behind b/c I have to kind waddle from side to side to avoid pain, but hey…I’m walkig w/o crutches!  It’s a GOOD thing!  My armpits were so sore from the crutches rubbing them, and the heels of my hands were tender to the touch from the pressure put on them when walking on the crutches.

I’m able to put basically all my body weight (which, unfortunately, is a lot more than it used to be!) on the bad foot, as long as I don’t roll it to either side at all.  That still hurts quite a bit.  And I still can’t really flex my toes up toward my shins, that hurts.  But the swelling is going down a lot…just some localized around the actual injured area.  And the bruising is starting to finally fade away some.

On a totally different subject…I made a cute little purse/tote bag with my kiddos pics and my logo on it:

I’ve ordered some really cool fabric that practically matches my logo and my next project (after I finish a wedding cake and two occasion cakes this weekend!) is a camera bag.  I’ll share it when it’s done!

Update on my foot…

1 06 2008

Well, I was doing better…Thursday & Friday I was able to put some weight on my foot without much pain (was even using just one crucht) and could  even drive.  But Saturday morning I couldn’t put any weight on it at all…it hurt quite a bit!  I’ve been back on both crutches and not bearing any weight on the foot at all.  It seems to have gotten a little better, but some of the swelling has returned, so I’m starting to wonder what that’s about.

Sorry I don’t have pics…but you are probably tired of seeing my purple foot anway, huh?

I did make a CUTE mini tote bag with my kids’ pics on it and my photography logo, I’ll have to get a pic of it tomorrow, and post it!
